Welcome to Black Gold, the hottest underground nightclub hidden within a compost heap. Meet an all star cast of filthy characters driven to decompose the toxic parts of society to strive towards a more interconnected future. All through song, dance, a big fat dirty disco and worms in drag.

“It is between the ripe and the rot, that thereby hangs a tale”
- Jaques, Shakespeare.

Compost the Cabaret, the greatest show inearth, is a bold, queer, eco‑drag cabaret exploring decay, transformation, and collective care through the lens of composting. Set inside Black Gold — a fiendish nightclub at the bottom of a compost heap — the piece uses parody songs, storytelling, dance, and comedy to communicate the science and metaphor of compost while dismantling dominant cultural narratives around nature, worth, productivity, and waste.

At its core is Kevin, a mouldy old carrot abandoned in the salad drawer, who believes he has failed his purpose. Through his journey into the compost heap, Kevin discovers that death is not an ending but a beginning. The show invites audiences to imagine a more generous interconnected future by celebrating rot, queerness, and transformation.
